Third & Urban and High Street Residential Announce First Wave of Retail Tenants for Hillcrest
Salted Melon and Chastain Creamery join the lineup at the
forthcoming mixed-use development in Sandy Springs
SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. (Oct. 27, 2026) – Atlanta-based real estate firm Third & Urban and partner High Street Residential, the residential subsidiary of Trammell Crow Company, today announced Salted Melon and Chastain Creamery will join Hillcrest, the 8.1-acre mixed-use development adjacent to City Springs in the heart of Sandy Springs. The signings mark continued momentum for the project, which will open in summer 2027 and include 362 apartments, 30 for-rent townhomes and more than 19,000 square feet of retail space built around a central plaza and green space.
“Hillcrest will introduce a mix of walkable shops and restaurants with abundant patio and outdoor space,” said Hank Farmer, partner at Third & Urban. “Residents will have options steps away from their front door, and visitors will have a reason to stay awhile. Salted Melon and Chastain Creamery already have local followings and will fit right in with the community we are creating here. We’re in active negotiations with several more tenants and can’t wait to share who’s next.”
Salted Melon, the Charlotte, North Carolina-based “everyday gourmet” concept, will open its second Atlanta-area location at Hillcrest, following its debut in Buckhead in February 2026. Salted Melon serves healthy but craveable items for breakfast, lunch and dinner and is known for its salads, bowls, sandwiches, smoothies, pastries and specialty coffee and tea. The Hillcrest location will be Salted Melon’s sixth, following another new location opening in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, in spring 2027.
“We are excited for the opportunity to expand to Sandy Springs and offer a second destination for everyday gourmet in the Atlanta area,” said Thomas Coker, owner and founder of Salted Melon. “We chose Hillcrest for its convenient location, emphasis on patio-heavy retail spaces and the city’s vision for a pedestrian-friendly downtown. The community is poised to become a vibrant destination in Sandy Springs, and we are proud to be a part of it.”
Chastain Creamery, the Buckhead favorite known for its more than 50 handcrafted ice cream flavors and custom creations, will open its second Atlanta-area location at Hillcrest. The modern ice cream parlor also offers a variety of allergy-friendly options, including items that are free of gluten, dairy, nuts or added sugar.
“We are incredibly excited to bring Chastain Creamery to Hillcrest and become part of the vibrant Sandy Springs community,” said a spokesperson for Chastain Creamery. “Our vision has always been about more than just serving exceptional ice cream. It’s about creating a place where families, friends, and neighbors can come together, make memories, and enjoy life’s sweetest moments. The overwhelming support we’ve received at our Buckhead location has inspired us to continue growing, and we believe Hillcrest is the perfect setting for our next chapter.”
Located adjacent to the $230 million City Springs development, Hillcrest builds upon the city’s commitment to creating a dynamic, walkable urban core. The project will feature a three- to five-story apartment building with a parking garage accommodating over 100 public parking spaces for city events and retail. The apartments will set a new standard for Class-A living with high-end finishes and amenities. Highlights will include a rooftop pool and clubroom with panoramic views of Sandy Springs and Buckhead, a golf simulator lounge, private movie screening room, sauna, state-of-the-art fitness center with Pilates studio, dog park, and a café-inspired work-from-home space. The luxury townhomes will offer two- and three-bedroom floor plans with two-car garages and rooftop patios. Amy Fingerhut and Olivia Arnold at CBRE are handling retail leasing.
